PRO BASKETBALL — May 17
Game 6 — Eastern Conference Playoffs
CLEVELAND (+8) at BOSTON (Total 172) — That was quite a stand the cavaliers put up Game 6, beating Boston despite shooting just 33% from the field. Obviously that kind of marksmanship is not going to get it done at the TD Banknorth Garden, but Cleveland has managed to make two of these trips to Boston winnable, and is doing a pretty good job at holding down the Boston offense, which has shot below 41% in four of the six games. The Cavs have controlled things on the offensive boards, which is not a big surprise when you consider that they averaged 13.3 offensive rebounds per game this season. They have covered six of their last seven games overall, and with LeBron James, they have a player who can keep them right in it, down to the wire, if he can get hot. There has been a home-road bias to Boston’s playoff journey, and they should continue to “hold serve” in Boston, but Cleveland will go down swinging.
